Rupavahini has recently started a tele drama series which shows our war heroes brave strategies & sacrifices. It is very good effort to salute our heroes because we are safe here because of their scarifies. This is good answer for directors who produce films & dramas to run down forces. This kind of drama series must encourage by giving awards.

Crime Stories

Most of electronic media & newspapers give priority to telecast, broadcast & print crime news. Some of televisions & radio channels have been gone beyond that level. They produce documentary tele dramas or radio dramas about crimes. They show how those crime arranged, how they happen … etc. They give priority about sex crimes which is done by close relatives like father, step father … etc. I agree that those kind of crime rarely happen in Sri Lanka. But why they give very descriptive information. When this kind of program going in our own television or radio, we can switch off it. But when we travel in public vehicle like bus we have to ask that programs. I disgust this kind of programs.

Most of parents give their kidney, blood, eyes for their needy children. Most parents sell their whole property to educate their children. They scarify their desires for their children’s future. But why these radio people can not make programs about that. Rarely some mentally disabled parents did a crime on children these kinds of radios publish them saying “AWASANAWATA ATHTHA KATHAWAK….”

I can not believe what they expecting by giving priority for this kind of uncommon crimes.

Important Meeting to end university non academic strike

From Sirasa FM news ……….

The most of Universities were closed because of non academic staff strike. There will be very critical meeting tomorrow. Hon. Athaudha Senevirathna will be headed the meeting and UGC & non academic staff representatives will participate this meeting discuss their opinions on this matter.

My comments on this strike.

Although this strike is very important to non academic staff to increase their salary as university student we are spending our most valuable time of our life in universities uselessly because of this nonsense.

“Heen Atha”

Rupavahini’s “Heen Atha” is good short program which is shown just after 8 news finishes. Its approach was brilliant. Every one was spellbound from its newest creativeness. “Heen Atha” is taking & behaving like a real elderly villager. Directors have been succeeded to figure out a real experienced & matured elder through out his dialogs & actions.

Although, it has many plus points some of negatives affects its creativity. “Heen Atha” is trying to get marks from “Maha Wasala Aththo” & his government. I agree that MR & his government are doing their best, but why “Rupavahini” is always point out them & hide their mistakes. As the National Television they must point out government good works & also mistakes. Then and only we can go forward by correcting our mistakes.

One million rupees for Sirasa Kumariya

The Sirasa Kumariya Organizers have decided to offer one million rupees for their Sirasa Kumariya program winner. I think this is the largest price ever make for beauty pageant which held locally. Another five girls who selected from five categories, intelligence, personality, talent, smile and skin will be received 20,000 for each. The winners will be chosen from text messages sent in the form of Short Message Service (SMS).
To qualify the girls need to be between 16 and 29 years of age. A judges panel comprising Rosie Senanayaka, Ramani Fernando and Hashan Tillakarathna will be present till the 75 finalists are chosen.

20,000 is very small amount when compared with one million. I have some doubts about this small price because they also possess some good potential talents. Sirasa Kumariya is one of favorite program among TV enthusiasts these days. I found some comment on this program while surfing on that subject.

One of popular (can not claim as best) TV channel is about to release their web site. Sirasa has plan to put up their online version of Sirasa TV, on www.sirasatv.lk domain.

Sirasa Kumariya with Shihan?

Sirasa has chosen Shihan to involve in their Sirasa Kumariya reality program. In SSS contest they refuse Shihan from contest claiming that he is not popular and he is not gaining SMSs. But if he is not popular why they choose his to this program. What about Ajith Bandara? Malith ? Why they forget them and choose Shihan?

Sirasa Kumariya will be another stormy program is Sri Lankan media in near future, definetly other media will run this program down in first phase and finally they will copy this to survive in business. This happened to SSS. First all media blame & run down SSS, but finally they all strat copy cats of SSS.

The producers must have a good awareness about our culture. They should not go beyond of our cultural limits. Cloths, dances, behaviour of Sirasa Kumariya must be controlled to complience with our cultural values.

Sirasa Kumariya

Again Sirasa has started a very popular program among youth & even among elders. It is a normal beauty contest but in a new approach. Sirasa is taking every measures to minimise criticisms on this program. They always try to take this program on to a way, which is appreciated by common people.

But at some points the program violate our traditional values. The girls (Sirasa kumario)wear very tight & short blouses & skirts. Camara man also a Kukula who try to shot interesting points of girls body. I think girls should wear their cloths decenty and camara men also understant the professionalism of their carrier.

Sirasa Kumariya organisers try to measure girls awareness of traditional values by exposing into religious environment. It is very good. They measure their abilities of home science by giving them a chance to cook a "Kos Maluwa". It is also good practice because modern girls think their inability of home work as a good point & a fassion.

Sirasa always try to change the routine manner of television culture. Some other channels first blame to it and finally start the samething in different name.
